Abstract
Ignition system is the most important thing on a motorcycle, because this system regulates electricity so that it becomes a spark. In the ignition system there are several important components such as CDI and spark plugs. CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) is an ignition system on an internal combustion engine by utilizing the energy stored in a capacitor that is used to produce high voltage to the ignition coil so that with a high voltage output the coil will produce spark in the spark plug. This amount of energy stored in the capacitor determines how strong the spark from the spark plug is to ignite the gas mixture in the combustion chamber. The greater the energy stored in the capacitor, the stronger the spark produced in the spark plug to ignite the combustion gas mixture with a note measured on the use of the same coil. Large energy will also make it easier for spark to penetrate the high compression or fuel gas mixture which is a lot of the result of greater throttle opening. Therefore, the condition of the CDI must be very good or normal, because a half-dead or abnormal CDI will greatly affect the performance of a motorcycle. There are two types of CDI which are commonly used on motorbikes, namely CDI which has Limiter and CDI that do not have Limiter or unlimiter. Most of the default CDIs used by motorcycle manufacturers are CDIs with a type of limiter, which means there is a limit on certain engine speed or high RPM. So that when the RPM is high or has reached its limit, a motorcycle cannot be driven to a higher RPM and if forced it will only waste fuel. That's why testing is done experimentally using unlimter CDI which has a higher RPM limit or even has no limits and also adds a spark plug variation, which uses standard plugs and iridium plugs. to test it using a dynamometer or dyno test, so that you get a comparison between the limiter and unlimiter.
