Abstract

Speaking is the most difficult skill for students of SD Muhammadiyah 1 Jember in learning English as a foreign language. Game as an alternative solution to improve students’ speaking ability was done in this research. This research was conducted in some classes of ECP at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Jember. This research is Classroom Action Research. It used qualitative and quantitative approach to observe the activity of the research and to analyze the data obtained.It was hopefully to find out the appropriate way to implement games as learning media in order to improve students’ speaking ability. By grouping the students and facilitating them to practice in pair inside and outside the class, the result of this research showed that the use of games as learning media could improve the students’ speaking ability of ECP Classes at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Jember in 2012/2013 academic year.
