Abstract

This research is aimed at Improving The Seventh Grade Students’ Speaking Ability by Using Communicative Activities through Identity Card at SMP N 1 Grujugan Bondowoso in The 2016/2017 Academic Year. The design of this research is classroom action research (CAR). Test and Observation Checklist are used to obtain the data. There are four components of speaking ability in teaching speaking. Namely are fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Communicative Activities through Identity Card improve the students’ speaking ability in two cycles from the percentage of students who got score ≥ 70 in Cycle 1 was 60% in Cycle 2 was 80%. Based on the result, it could be concluded that the use of Communicative Activities through Identity Card could improve the students’ speaking ability by interaction and disscusion through the contents of Identity Card before the students practice in front of the class.
