Abstract

Writing is an activity to communicate ideas both in words and sentences in written form. Writing is not only as communication but also as knowledge. Writing ability can also be useful later in professional life, so it not just an academic component. Therefore, it is important to do research entitled “The Effect of the Peer Feedback Technique on Students’ Recount Text Writing Ability” This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The population of this research is the eleventh grades of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember in the academic year 2022/2023. The sample was selected from 2 classes including class XI Bahasa as the experimental group and class IPA 3 as the control group. Data was collected through a written test which was obtained from the pre-test and post-test. Based on the results, the average post-test score for the experimental class was 89.58 while the post-test for the control class was 80.17. Then the results of the analysis using the independent sample test obtained a sig (2-tailed) value of 0,000 which is smaller than the 0,05 significance level. So, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using peer feedback techniques on students’ recount text writing ability.
