Abstract

This study aims to understand 1) addictive behavior of MLBB game players, 2) trigger factors for online game addiction, 3) the impact of online game addiction, 4) the formation and motives of MLBB game addiction behavior. The sample selection in this study used the quota sampling technique, namely members of the MLBB community in Jember with criteria 1) are active members and participate in a series of community activities such as tournaments, training, or monthly gatherings more than 3 times, and 2) members who always play every day. So that the total sample in this study amounted to 100 people. The data collection method uses an online game addiction scale from Chen & Chang (2008) adapted from Hutasuhut (2020), with a Likert scale model. Analysis of descriptive test data using percentages. The results showed that community members experienced addiction to online games with a high category as much as 71 percent with a score (X ≥ 63) and a low category as much as 29 percent with a score (X ≤ 63). Based on the categorization of online game indicators with indicators of compulsion, withdrawal, tolerance, and interpersonal and health related problems dominated at a high category level.
