Abstract
Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, continues to strive increasing of agricultural production, through agricultural mechanization. Usin of agricultural mechanization continues to be encouraged through farmer groups. One of them is the Sumber Rejeki Farmer Group in Sukorejo Village, Bangsalsari District, Jember Regency. The research objective was to (1) determine the driving, (2) inhibiting factors for the application of agricultural mechanization and, (3) strategies to minimize the negative impact of agricultural mechanization on farm laborers. The research method was descriptive analytic carried out by purposive method at Sumber Rejeki Farmer Group. Sampling was taken on 3 experts. Data analysis using descriptive methods and Force Field Analysis (FFA). The results showed that: (1) the driving factors for application of agricultural mechanization in Sukorejo Village were: the difficulty to obtain labor, faster farm production process, more cost-effective than the use of labor, increases the amount of production, support from the central and regional governments, and higher selling price of product than without mechanization, (2) the factors inhibiting application of agricultural mechanization were: limited availability of machines, land conditions that were not suitable for implementing mechanization, expensive repair costs of machines if there was damage, and protests from farm laborers, (3) strategies to minimize the impact of mechanization were: empowerment of farm laborers.
