English Education Program, Faculty Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Advisors: (1) Henri Fatkurochman M.Hum. (2) Muhlisin Rasuki, M.Pd., M.A., Ed.d. Keywords: Team Game Tournament, Vocabulary Vocabulary mastery is crucial for effective communication because it indicates a learners’ level of communication ability. The more words they know, the better they will be in communicating. Therefore, it is important to research “The Effect of Team Game Tournament on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery in Junior High School.” In this research, the problem is “ Does implementing the Team Games Tournament method influence students’ vocabulary mastery when describing extracurricular activities?” and the objective of this research is “ To examine whether the implementation of the Team Games Tournament method influences students’ vocabulary mastery when describing extracurricular activities.” Based on the research problem and the relevant theories, the hypothesis of this research is “There are significant effects of the TGT method on the students’ vocabulary mastery.” The research used an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design. The sample was the VII class, VII-A had 27 students, and VII-B had 28 students, for a total of 55 students in both classes. The data were collected using a vocabulary test. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics to determine students’ total and mean scores. Then, the normality and homogeneity test was continued. The testing hypothesis was analyzed with an independent sample T-test. The significance of the T-test result is (0,000), which means it is lower than (0,005). That means the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that team game tournament is influences students’ vocabulary mastery when describing extracurricular activities. In other words, the team game tournament significantly affects students’ vocabulary mastery.
