Abstract

(2) Novy Eurika S.Si, M.Pd Kata Kunci : Ekstrak jahe merah, daya hambat, bakteri Sterptococcus mutans. Masalah yang sering terjadi pada masyarakat yaitu masalah pada gigi yang biasa disebut karies gigi dan penyakit periodontal. Karies gigi disebabkan oleh akumulasi plak yang tidak dibersihkan sehingga meningkatkan aktivitas metabolisme bakteri penghuninya. Bakteri yang berperan dalam pembentukan plak yang paling dominan adalah bakteri streptococcus mutans. Jahe adalah salah satu tanaman herbal yang paling sehat dan bermanfaat. Ada beberapa jenis jahe yang sering dijumpai di pasaran. Salah satunya adalah jahe merah. Senyawa dari tumbuhan jahe yang kemungkinan mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri adalah minyak atsiri, yang terdiri atas senyawa-senyawa aktif lainnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak jahe merah (Zingiber officinale var.Rubrum) terhadap daya hambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan dasar menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium biologi UPT laboratorium dasar Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 kali pengulangan dengan 4 jenis perlakuan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah daya hambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans di ambil sebanyak 1 ons dengan menggunakan etanol, ekstrak jahe merah 20%, 40% dan 80%. Data dianalisis dengan uji anova dan uji BNTmelalui IMB SPSS 16. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan etanol dan ekstrak jahe merah 20%, 40%, 80% terhadap daya hambat Bakteri Streptococcus mutans, dibuktikan dengan nilai f hitung (8.636) > dari f tabel (3.36). Berdasarkan hasil uji BNt dapat diketahui bahwa etanol, ekstrak jahe 20%, 40% berbeda tidak nyata terhadap terhadap daya hambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Ekstrak jahe 80% berbeda sangat nyata terhadap daya hambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat perbedaan etanol dan ekstrak jahe merah 20%, 40%, 80% terhadap daya hambat Bakteri Streptococcus mutans dan Produk dan hasil penelitian bisa di gunakan sebagai sumber belajar. Problems that often occur in the community are problems with teeth that are commonly called dental caries and periodontal disease. Dental caries is caused by the accumulation of plaque that is not cleaned, thereby increasing the metabolic activity of the inhabiting bacteria. The bacteria that play a role in the formation of plaque are the most dominant bacteria streptococcus mutans. Ginger is one of the most healthy and beneficial herbal plants. There are several types of ginger that are often found on the market. One of them is red ginger. Compounds of ginger which may have antibacterial activity are essential oils, which consist of other active compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibition of red ginger extract (Zingiber officinale var.Rubrum) on the inhibition of Streptococcus mutans. This research method is an experimental method with a basic design using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). This research was carried out in the biology laboratory at the basic laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Jember. This study uses 3 repetitions with 4 types of treatment. The population in this study is the inhibition of Streptococcus mutans taken as much as 1 ounce using ethanol, red ginger extract 20%, 40% and 80%. Data were analyzed with ANOVA test and BNT test through IMB SPSS 16. The results showed that there were differences in ethanol and red ginger extract 20%, 40%, 80% on the inhibitory power of Streptococcus mutans, as evidenced by the calculated f value (8,636)> from the f table (3.36). Based on the BNt test results it can be seen that ethanol, 20% ginger extract, 40% are not significantly different to the inhibitory power of Streptococcus mutans. 80% ginger extract is very significantly different to the inhibition of Streptococcus mutans. The conclusion of this study is that there are differences in ethanol and red ginger extract 20%, 40%, 80% on the inhibition of Streptococcus mutans bacteria and products and research results can be used as a learning resource.
