Abstract

Self construal is an important thing that must be owned by students. Because when students have good self-construal, students will be able to recognize what, who and how themselves when they bring up a behavior that is in accordance with themselves in establishing social relations. Basically, students who can establish social relations will help students to adapt well to their current environment, this adaptation process is commonly referred to as self-adjustment. This study aims to determine the effect of self construal on the adjustment of Hafshawaty Islamic boarding school students. The research method used is associative quantitative. Researchers used a simple random sampling scale to get a sample of 177 students. The research instrument used was a scale of self construal and adjustment to the Likert scale using a range of values from 1 to 4. Hypothesis test results using simple linear regression analysis show that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, which is shown from the results of hypothesis testing with a level of sig 0,000, meaning 0,000 <0.05, it can be said that self construal affects the adjustment of students, can be seen from the level of sig 0 000, which is shown from the results of the calculated R value of 0, 366 or 36.6% with the contribution of the variable R Square 0, 134 or 13.4% or self construal affect the adjustment as much as 13.4%. This research shows that there is a positive influence between self construal on the adjustment of students. This means that the higher the self construal owned by the santri, the adjustment owned by the santri will be higher, and vice versa the lower the self construal the adjustment will also decrease.
