Abstract

Keyword: writing, error analysis, interlanguage. Error Analysis is one of the major topics in the field of second language acquisition research. Errors are an integral part of language learning. The Thai students of English as a second language, especially English major in 2012-2018 academic years are unaware of the existence of the particular system or rule in English language. In this research, the problem is Thai students especially English major in 2012-2018 academic years, who study in University in Jember made the errors in their writing. The researcher was conducted on June 15, 2019. The errors made by Thai students in this research were on types Omission, misformation, addition, and misordering. The students made the Omission errors are 110, misformartion errors are 4, addition errors are 4 and the last misordering is 1. In this research, used writing test as the instrumentation of the research where the students were worked to write a narrative text based on the problem want to examine. The research methology used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The object was chosen based on purposive, the research choose the Thai students as the object of the research because the Tai students got the problem in their writing. The data in this research were analyzed from the writing text of Thai students. The writing tests were validated from teachers who are more expert than researchers to supporting the data. Based on the analysis on the problems of Thai students made the errors in their writing, the high of the errors in their writing are omission, the next is misformation, addition and misordering. The most problem in this research, the researcher found in grammatically. Those problems happened in this research, the result concluded that the Thai students who study University in Jember 2012-2018 academic year only English major had standard the writing test. Besides, it is suggested to the lecture to teaching carefully about the structure and gives more information about grammatical.
