Abstract
Improving the quality of road pavement will impact on the age of the road, and this will also add to the costs incurred. On the other hand the government’s finances are limited or volume that will be done on the rise. To the above the need for effortsbto minimize construction costs and simultaneously improve their quality. One way is to use a mixture of cellulose fiber surface layer of asphalt on the road. The conclusiom of thus research is the cellulose fibers can be used as an ingredient added to the asphalt pavement in Indonesia to resist cracking, occurs because the wheels of the vehicle flow (rutting), tropical climate, overload, and other environmental factors. And once the economy is analyzed using a composite model of the surface layer of HRS-B with 2 in thick, a layer of crushed stone foundation of the class A with 8 in thick, a layer of crushed stone stone foundation under a class B in. thick. Obtained results of the cost of new construction without HRS surface is 72,870.33 ($/km) ; cost cover the surface of HRS with pen bitumen 60/70 without cellulose fibers is 30,800.00 ($/km) and with pen bitumen 60/70 with 0.3% cellulose fibers is 36,050.00 ($/km) ; whereas the cost of new construction with the surface of HRS with pen bitumen 60/70 without 0.3% cellulose fibers is 103,670.33 ($/km) and with pen bitumen 60/70 with 0.3% cellulose fibers is 108,920.33 ($/km). While the Life cycle Cost Analyis that compares the vpresent value of the the total cost of each alternative with a discount rate of 0%, 5%, and 10%. shows that the construction of roads with the surface of HRS with pen bitumen 60/70 with 0.3% cellulose fibers is more economical than the construction of roads with the surface of HRS with pen bitumen 60/70 withot cellulose fibers.
