This thesis investigates the effect of the One Stay Two Stray (OSTS) method of cooperative learning on the reading comprehension of junior high school students. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tamanan Bondowoso, focusing on eighth-grade students during the 2024/2025 academic year. The research aims to determine whether the OSTS method significantly enhances students' reading comprehension skills compared to traditional teaching methods.
The methodology involved an experimental design with two groups: an experimental group taught using the OSTS method and a control group taught through conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure reading comprehension achievement.
The results indicated that the experimental group showed a significant improvement in reading comprehension scores, with a t-table was 2.01 and the obtained t-value was 2.16. Statistical analysis using t-tests confirmed that the difference in scores was significant, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis.
Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the OSTS method effectively promotes active learning and enhances reading comprehension among junior high school students.
