Neonatal tetanus is the most common cause of death in newborns due to deliveries and handling of the umbilical cord are not clean. This can happen due to postpartum care less clean cord care less sterile. Health education is an effort that can be done to reduce morbidity (morbidity) and death rate (mortality). Perception owned mom about cord care in newborns will affect the baby's health status. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of health education on perception peawatan primigravida in the umbilical cord of newborns. Digunakaan research design is praexperimental design, with the approach of one group pre-test post-test design with a population of 85 samples taken 70 respondents obtained by sampling technique using probability sampling. Collecting data using questionnaires with Likert scale. Results of analysis of the data shows the measurement results primigravida perception before being given health education with the average value of 70.97 and the mean value perception primigravida after being given education obtained average value of 86.41. Statistical test results using a paired sample t test with α = 0.05 ρ values obtained value of 0.000, so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of health education with the perception primigravida. This study was recommended to health professionals to improve the quality and quantity of services health facility in the mother and child.
