To collect the data, observation was held in some online discussion in Canvas to investigate the proper diction that students used in ODFs. The observation focused on the proper diction used by student in giving comment and feedback. To support the data from the observation, the researcher also conducted indirect semi-structured interview using google form. It has 10 questions about the use of proper diction in ODFs in Canvas learning platform. The results showed, there are some mistakes in using proper diction used in giving comment and feedback such as the used of synonym that have similar meaning but cannot be used in the context. Also some factors affect students in selecting the diction such as interface, time and student language skill.
