Abstract

This research was conducted at Seed Technology Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty of Muhammadiyah University of Jember about “The Previous Water Content Seed and Desiccant Matter Use versus Storage Ability of Soy bean Seed (Glycine max, L. Merril). This research was arranged with Randomized Completely Block Design with two factor and three replications. The first factor was consist of two level of seed water content : high water content (± 15 %) and low water content (± 10 %). The second factor was consist of four level of without desiccant matter, curd lime desiccant matter, charcoal desiccant matter, and raw ash desiccant matter. The result of this research showed that low water content (± 10 %) has high significant effect on viability and vigourus, whereas charcoal desiccant matter has high significant effect on viability and vigourus. There is interaction between high water content (± 15 %) and charcoal desiccant matter un highly significant versus weight desiccant matter after storage. Treatment of high water content (± 15 %) with charcoal desiccant matter has significant on seed water content after storage.
