Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of substrate engineering on hydroponic cultivation systems to increase the growth and production of leeks (Allium Ampeloprasum L.). The study was conducted using
the Randomized Block Design (RBD) method which consisted of one factor, each of which was repeated as many as 3 kai. The treatment used is the composition of coconut fiber media (A), wood charcoal media (B) and brick media (C) with a combination of the three substrates according to the composition comparison. The results showed that, media treatment that affected plant height and number of leaves, namely coconut coir media 25% + 75% wood charcoal. In the root length parameter per sample the media had almost the same effect as plant height, but it only differed in the media percentage, namely 25% wood charcoal + 75% coconut fiber. However, in contrast to the parameters of root weight per sample and the fresh weight of the top of the plant, the media treatment that significantly affected the fresh weight of the top of the plant is the treatment of media B (wood charcoal).
