Abstract

Writing is the most complex skill compared to the other three skills. It
means that writing is the most difficult skill learned by students, especially for
foreign language learners, because they do not only have to master the
vocabularies but also the grammar structure. Due to the covid19 pandemic,
demanding learning that was offline class to be online class. Teaching writing is a
difficult in online learning. According to Cao et al (2020) this policy has an
impact on the world of education: especially the development of student learning.
In this case, teaching writing in online learning is a challenge for the teacher;
where the teacher must have new strategy in teaching writing online learning.
teaching strategies are a description of learning that includes the structure, outline
of planned tactics, and the teaching objectives needed to implement the strategy.
According to Huda (2021), covid 19 has impacted to the new habituation of
learning mode i.e online learning. It has not been easily implemented because
online learning is new system in indonesia.
The researcher exists to analyze the english teachers’ writing strategies in
online classes in tenth grade of MAN Lumajang. The researcher conducted anlyze
the lesson plan and interview with an English teacher who taught towards the ten
grade of MAN Lumajang. This study aims to analyze the english teachers
strategies in teaching writing through online learning. This research is using
descriptive qualitative. The subject of this research is English teacher. Data
collection was carried out by using document observation and interviews. The
instrument used are document observasion rubric plan and guided interview. The
teacher using Whatsapp group and googlemeet for her online teaching and
learning process.
Data analysis shows the strategies that the teacher used in online learning.
The strategy is blended learning with a flex model. The teaching process is held
online using the google meet application and offline face to face learning if the
student did not understand the material and teacher give depth explanation to the
students.
