Abstract

ABSTRAK Saat ini keberadan bahan bakar yang berasal dari minyak bumi, batubara dan lainnya sudah mulai semakin langka dan mahal. Jumlah populasi manusia semakin meningkat serta kemajuan teknologi dan perkembangan industri yang menguras berbagai sumber energi merupakan sebagian dari penyebab kelangkaan tersebut, karena itu dibutuhkan suatu pemikiran untuk menciptakan energi alternatif yang murah dan efisien untuk kebutuhan masyarakat luas. Pengembangan energi alternatif terbarukan perlu dilakukan untuk meminimalisir terjadinya kelangkaan. Energi alternatif sebagai pengganti bahan bakar minyak dapat berasal dari limbah peternakan dan perkebunan. Pemanfaatan limbah hewan ternak dan buah-buahan hasil tani yang mulai membusuk dapat memberikan pengaruh positif bagi lingkungan setempat serta dapat menghasilkan berbagai keuntungan untuk memperoleh bahan bakar yang berkualitas. Penelitian ini melakuakan pengujian terhadap biogas yang dihasilkan yaitu; kandungan rasio C/N, nilai pH, suhu, volume gas, oksigen (O2), hitrogen sulfide, karbon dioksida ( CO2 ), gas metana ( CH4) dengan campuran komposisi stater: G1 Kotoran sapi Em4, G2 Kotoran kambing dan Em4, G3 Kotoran burung puyuh dan Em4, G4 limbah buah-buahan dan Em4. Dalam penelitian ini variasi stater terbaik adalah limbah buah setelah penambahan EM4 yaitu di starter G4 mendapatkan pH 7 dan mengandung rasio C/N sebesar 7,065 dengan waktu penelitian 30 hari, pada hari ke-13 mengalami peningkatan kualitas bahan bakar biogas ditandai dengan meningkatnya suhu sebesar 29,7ᵒC, volume sebesar 48,5 mL, CH4 sebesar 960 LEL, menurunnya kandungan O2 sebesar 0%, kandungan H2S sebesar 0 ppm, kandungan CO sebesar 0 ppm. Kata Kunci: Starter; biogas; gas metana; kotoran hewan; limbah buah- buahan; Em4 ix ABSTRACT Currently, the existence of fuel derived from petroleum, coal and others has started to become increasingly rare and expensive. The number of human population is increasing as well as technological advances and industrial developments that drain various energy sources are some of the causes of this scarcity, therefore a thought is needed to create alternative energy that is cheap and efficient for the needs of the wider community. Development of alternative renewable energy needs to be done to minimize scarcity. Alternative energy as a substitute for fuel oil can come from livestock and plantation waste. Utilization of livestock waste and agricultural fruit that is starting to rot can have a positive impact on the local environment and can generate various benefits for obtaining quality fuel. This study conducted tests on the biogas produced, namely; C/N ratio, pH value, temperature, gas volume, oxygen (O2), hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane gas (CH4) with a mixture of starter compositions: G1 Cow manure Em4, G2 Goat manure and Em4, G3 Quail droppings and Em4, fruit waste G4 and Em4. In this study the best starter variation was fruit waste after the addition of EM4, namely starter G4 obtained a pH of 7 and contained a C/N ratio of 7.065 with a research time of 30 days, on the 13th day there was an increase in the quality of biogas fuel marked by an increase in temperature of 29 ,7ᵒC, volume of 48.5 mL, CH4 of 960 LEL, decreased O2 content of 0%, H2S content of 0 ppm, CO content of 0 ppm.
