Abstract
Tenses derived from the Latin Tempus have meaning as time. In English, tenses are the changing of verbs based on time and event. Tense is the correct use of adverbial time in English. Many factors make it difficult for students to learn simple past tense because they do not understand English. Mind mapping in teaching grammar can help them memorize it quickly. Therefore, it is important to research “The Effect of Mind Mapping in Learning Past Tense through Jamboard in High School Students” In this research, the problem is “Does mind mapping have a significant effect on tenth-grade students' simple past tense mastery through Jamboard?” and the objective of this research is “to know the effect of Mind mapping on learning simple past tense through the Jamboard platform for senior high school students.” Based on the research problem and the relevant theories, the hypothesis of this research is “There is a significant effect on student simple past tense mastery in a narrative text by using mind mapping through Jamboard of the tenth-grade students.” The design of this research is quasi-experimental. The subject of this research was the X class, consisting of 30 students from each class. The data were collected using a multiple-choice test. The significance of the T-test result is (0,000), which means it is lower than (0,005). That means the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the answer to the research question is a significant difference in students' simple past tense mastery between students who taught the use of mind mapping through Jamboard and those who did not. In other words, Mind Mapping on the Jamboard significantly impacted student’s past tense mastery.
