Key Words : Speaking Ability, Miming Game Many students find speaking as one of the most difficult skills. In the teaching and learning process, most of them still get difficulty in expressing their idea and opinion through speaking English, because they were afraid of making mistakes in practice. Therefore, the researcher wants to improve the students’ speaking ability through the suitable teaching technique, in this case, the technique is miming game. In this research, the problem which is investigated is “How can the use of miming game improve the eighth grade students’ interpersonal speaking ability at SMP Islam Gumukmas in the 2019/2020 academic year?” and “How can the use of miming game improve students active participations of the eighth grade students at SMP Islam Gumukmas in the 2019/2020 academic year?”. The purpose of this research is to know how miming game can improve the eighth grade students’ interpersonal speaking ability and students’ active participation at SMP Islam Gumukmas in the 2019/2020 academic year. The design of this research is classroom action research (CAR). The subject of the research is the eighth B1 class at SMP Islam Gumukmas in the 2019/2020 academic year, which is consists of 30 students. Test, Observation Checklist and Video Recording are used to obtain the data. The aspect of scoring speaking test are fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. This research was conducted in two cycle by following the procedure of the action research : preliminary study, planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data was analyzed using formula E = n/N x 100%. The criteria of success of speaking ability is 70% or 21 from 30 students achieved the target score. While, the criteria of success of students active participation is 70% or 21 from 30 students are active in teaching learning proccess. Miming game as technique to improves students’ interpersonal speaking ability in two cycles from the percentage of students who got score ≥ 70 (E = 50%) in Cycle 1 to (E = 80%) in Cycle 2. The observation result from 39% of students’ activeness in Cycle 1 to 72% students’ activeness in Cycle 2. Based on the data above, there was significant impact of Cycle 2 implementation on the students’ speaking ability. It can be conclude that use of miming game can improve the eighth grade students’ interpersonal speaking ability at SMP Islam Gumukmas in the 2019/2020 academic year.
