Abstract

Weakening Causes of Farmers in Response Soybean Farming in Jember
Regency. Purposes of the study are: (1) to know socio-economic factors that lead to a weak response of farmers to cultivate soybean in Jember, (2) to analyze profit level of soybean, and (3) to analyze economic feasibility of soybean farming. The data explored in this study are primary and secondary data both qualitative and quantitative. The research uses descriptive method. Research sample consists of farmers both are still planting and had not planted soybean. Analysis methods used are scoring analysis with Likert scale, feasibility analysis with R/C Ratio and interpretation method by focusing on the purposes of study. Results of this study concluded that: (1) farmer's response to soybean farming is relatively weak caused largely by less profit of soybean farming compared to other commodities (54% of respondents) as well as pass trauma of no protection from the government (74% of respondents); (2) Average profit of soybean farming is IDR 4,487,125.76 per hectare; and 3) Average R/C Ratio of soybean farming reached 1.83.
