Abstract

This study investigates the use of Bridgerton TV series as a tool for learning the British accent among English language learners on X (Twitter). The research focuses on how exposure to authentic media content affects learners’ pronunciation, intonation, and awareness of British accent features.
A qualitative method was employed, with data collected through online questionnaires and text-based interviews. The participants were English learners actively engaging with Bridgerton related content on X. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns and trends in learners’ experiences. Triangulation, pilot testing, and member checking were applied to ensure validity.
The findings show that watching Bridgerton positively influences learners’ understanding and imitation of British accent features, particularly vowel pronunciation, the /r/ sound, and intonation patterns. Participants reported increased confidence and awareness in using British accent features in their social media interactions.
