Abstract

Writing is a complex productive skill that involves content, organization, grammar, mechanics, and style. For vocational high school students, especially when writing procedure texts, these aspects can be challenging and affect their ability to express ideas clearly in English. Digital tools like Educandy are now being used to make writing more engaging and effective.

This study used a quantitative, quasi-experimental design. It compared two groups: one used the Educandy app, and the other followed traditional methods. The participants were 47 tenth-grade students from the Visual Communication Design program at SMK Ma’arif Bangsalsari. Both groups completed writing tasks assessed using five key components of writing.

A Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the results. The significance value was 0.001, showing a strong difference between the two groups. Students using Educandy performed better in their writing than those taught with conventional methods. The results show that Educandy has a significant effect on students’ English writing skills in writing procedure texts.
