Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the number of sections of plant cuttings and media composition on the growth of seedlings cuttings patchouli. And has been implemented in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Muhammadiyah Jember from July to October 2010. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design (RBD) two-factor factorial with three replications. The first Factor segment cuttings material number (R) include: two, three, four, and five-segment and the second factor of growing media compositions (M) include: 5 kg media (2 soil: 1 sand) without manure, 5 kg media (1 kg of manure, 4 kg (2 soil: 1 sand)), 5 kg media (2 kg of manure, 3 kg (2 soil: 1 sand)), 5 kg media (3 kg of manure, 2 kg (2 Soil : 1 Sand)). The experimental results show that the number of segments patchouli cuttings material effect on the number of leaves of the highest of four treatment segments ie 21 leaf cuttings, the highest number of shoots results of treatment of four segments namely 4 bud cuttings, and the highest shoot length of treatment outcome cuttings are 3 segments 5 cm long shoots. Composition of media influence on the number of shoots high payoff treatment media mix ie 4 shoots, shoot length ultimate outcome of treatment of growing media mix that is 6 cm long shoots, and the highest percentage of live results from the treatment of mixed media that is 100%. There is no interaction between the treatment and the number of segments cuttings growing media mix.
