Abstract

Spinach is one of the most important leaf vegetable in Asia and Africa. Cultivation of spinach for seed production purposes is another alternative that can increase revenue. One is the simultaneous cultivation of that crop and harvesting tipping shoots right. Order to determine the appropriate high-tipping, as well as to determine the most appropriate harvesting is used between them to increase the production of spinach seeds. The experiment was conducted in the village Jenggawah Jember District Jenggawah with altitude of approximately 60 meters above sea level, soil type regosol. The experiment took place from September to October 2012. The experiment was conducted using a factorial randomized block design with three replications. With high tipping treatment consisting of 4 levels, ie P0 = Without Tipping, P1 = Tipping on the main stem height of 10 cm, P2 = Tipping on the main stem as high as 20 cm, P3 = Tipping on the main stem as high as 30 cm, Harvest U1 = harvest age of 50 days after planting, U2 = Harvest age 60 days after planting, U3 = Harvest aged 70 days after planting, U4 = Harvest age 80 days after planting. The results showed that: (1). Tipping the use of 30 cm on the main stem can improve plant growth, (2). Use of harvesting age 60 HST increasing seed production to increase crop of spinach, (3). The use of tipping 30 cm on the main stem and harvest 60 days after planting to increase plant growth and production.
