Abstract

Students struggle with word comprehension and identifying story elements in narrative texts. They also display disinterest, boredom, passivity, and reluctance to participate.One of method that could be approached for teaching narrative is picture series. This study set out to discover how significant the effect of picture series to students reading comprehension in narative text. A quantitative method was used to summarize the data that was obtained from the outcome. The participants in this study were 64 students from class VIIA and VIIB at SMPN 2 Bangorejo of 2022/2023 academic year. These students have studied narrative text. The class VII A was experiemntal group which was taught narrative using picture series. The class VII B was control group that was taugh narrative text only using text book. The data that have been collected then analyzed using spss to find if there is any significat effect in using picture series to students reading comprehension.the result of the independent sample t-test on SPSS program, the significant value (2-tailed) of the T-test analysis was 0.01 and it was less than 0.05 (0.01 < 0.05). It was reasonable to draw the conclusion that the alternative hypothesis "There was a significant effect of employing picture series on the seventh grade students' reading achievement at SMPN 2 Bangorejo was accepted. In considering this, it may be argued that the pupils' reading achievement was considerably impacted by the employment of picture series to teach vocabular
