Abstract

The current development of automotive technology, according to the vehicle manufacturing industry, is to innovate and improvise in producing types of vehicles that are not only comfortable and efficient but must also guarantee driving safety in all conditions, both normal and sudden, such as being hit by another vehicle on the road. In Indonesia, currently the use of non-renewable energy is still the most popular, especially those sourced from coal and petroleum. The research process for braking systems in electric cars begins with preparing a literature study for the author's reference in carrying out the research, after that preparing the tools and materials that will be used. Then carry out a braking test on an electric car with variable dry, wet and rocky road conditions and a variable total weight of the electric car weight of 200 kg, 220 kg and 250 kg. This electric car requires a force of 8,240 N, 9,064 N and 10,300 N to make the vehicle stop at a speed of 40 km/hour with a distance of 50 m. With a total car weight of 200 kg, 220 kg, and 250 kg it takes 9.25 seconds. With manual calculations we can also find out that the heavier the car, the more force is needed to brake. In research on braking for 2 kW electric cars, braking performance on good road conditions for 2 kW electric cars is dry roads, because after undergoing field testing on dry roads the results are smaller or lower than on wet and rocky roads. In research on car braking 2 kW electric performance is good with a total car weight of 200 kg. Because the heavier the car, the greater the force needed to stop a 2 kW electric car.
