Pd Key Word: Grammarly, essay writing, students' perceptions This research aims to investigate students' perceptions of using Grammarly software in helping them to check the problems of their essays. The study takes into account the wide spread use of AI in English language learning, particularly Grammarly sortware in writing. Therefore, this study focuses on students' perceptions of using Grammarly software in essay writing. In this research, the problem is “What are students’ perceptions of using Grammarly Software in helping them to check the problems of their essays?” and the objective of this research referring to the research problem is to investigate students' perceptions of using Grammarly software in helping them to check the problems of their essays. Based on the research problem and relevant theory, the hypothesis of this research is described as follow: Students have a positive response to the use of Grammarly software in checking problems in essay writing. This study used a quantitative approach and survey method, with data collection methods using questionnaires. The subjects in this study were students majoring in English language from two state universities and one private university in Jember. In general, of the 50 participants who filled out the questionnaire, 36 participants met the respondent criteria. The questionnaires were distributed through Google Form. Then, the participants filled out the questionnaire. Next, the respondents in this study were selected from the participants who filled out the questionnaires based on the respondent criteria. Finally, the researcher conducted data analysis and then the researcher made a conclusion. The findings in this study show a highly positive response based on five aspects of perception: belief, knowledge, feeling, interest, and motivation. Based on the data, 24-35 respondents (68.8%-92.8%) gave positive responses. This implies that the respondents believed in the feedback and features provided by Grammarly to correct errors in their essays. Furthermore, respondents felt interested and helped to overcome problems in their essay writing. Moreover, respondents were motivated to improve their writing
