Abstract

Listening Comprehension Skills in English are undeniably crucial in communication. There are still many difficulties in listening comprehension in students. Therefore, it is important to conduct a study titled " The Use of Story Telling Method to Improve Young Learners’ Listening Comprehension” for 2nd grades at Al Munawwiriy Islamic School, Jember. In this study, the question is "can storytelling improve young learners English language skills in 2nd grades at Al Munawwiriy Islamic School in the 2024/2025 academic year?" And the purpose of the study that refers to this problem is to find out if the use of story telling methods has a significant improvement in young learners English listening comprehension. Based on relevant research and theoretical problems, the hypothesis of this research is described as follows: Using the storytelling method can improve the listening comprehension ability of English in 2nd grades students at Al Munawwiriy Islamic School, in the 2024/2025 academic year. The design of this research is classroom action research. The subject of the study is the 2nd grade consisting of 4 students in the class. Data is collected using the test method, and the instrument used is a test. To analyze the data of students listening comprehension scores, the mean was used. Implementation of the use of storytelling methods. Active students; The state of the class is very good. The score obtained was above 70 with the number of students who obtained a score above the standard, which was 75%, which was the same as the standard score that the researcher wanted to achieve. It can be classified as a success test, then there are several reasons why they can pass the test. First, they really like the new techniques brought by researchers. Second, they can learn something in a fun activity. Third, they can improve focus and concentration through storytelling activities. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that using the storytelling method to improve young learners listening comprehension ability in 2nd grade students at Al Munawwiriy Islamic School in the 2024/2025 academic year is effectively implemented.
